Sign up for Emergency Notifications
Gillespie County and the City of Fredericksburg have partnered with CivicReady to implement a mass notification system. CivicReady is an integrated technology for local government designed exclusively for the public. In the event of a local emergency Fredericksburg residents and guests will be able to receive urgent notifications, emergency instructions, warnings, and routine communications. Once signed up subscribers will be informed via email, text message, and voice alert. Where to get free glasses
The Visitor Information Center at 302 E. Austin St. will distribute a limited supply of safe solar viewing glasses (eclipse glasses) to locals and visitors for the total solar eclipse in April 2024. Glasses will be available starting March 18, 2024.
Central Texas Electric Cooperative will distribute a limited supply of eclipse glasses to its members at CTEC headquarters at 386 Friendship Lane, the Llano Branch Office at 1410 Hwy. 29 E., the Kingsland Branch Office at 706 Cottonwood St., and the Mason Branch Office at 1881 Hwy. 29 E

Know Where to Go
Please be aware of where you plan to watch the eclipse. Most land in Texas is privately owned and not accessible to the public. If you see a fence, don't hop it. Please obey "no trespassing" signs. For everyone's safety and an enjoyable experience, plan ahead and be aware of where you are.
